Claudia Rothhaas – Part 2 – Dealing with stress and lifestyle changes before and
after heart surgery

Claudia Rothhaas, a German-Australian Clinical Psychologist in Sydney, Australia is a fully registered member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the APS College of Clinical Psychologists as well as the German Professional Association of Psychologists. Claudia discusses psychological issues confronting heart patients preparing for and after heart bypass surgery.

Her areas of expertise include management of anxiety, fear, depression, adjustment to family and work place while confronting uncertainties of life issues and shares her personal experience dealing with these matters of the heart.

  1. I don’t know about others ( bypass patients ) but for me beside the cardiologist and surgeon there was no one else to give counseling during pre & post operation. I think this aspect is very important. Fortunately for me we soldier are trained to handle tough situation ( like in battle zone and likely get killed )and have faith and trust in God and leave it in his good hands. Believe both of these certainly helps a lot preparing the patient to cope with the situation.
