Hosea 2:14 I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortable unto her.
Charles Spurgeon writes: The goodness of God sees us allures by sin, and it resolves to try upon us the more powerful allurements of love. The only place where we can give full attention to God is in the wilderness. Here we have solitude and communion with God. Sin tempts us but God’s love tests our hearts to place God first in all we do. It is here in the wilderness where each one will find his ‘own vine and fig tree’ and it is here we seek after the face of God and be healed. It is in the wilderness we ‘Get to Know Who We Are’ and ‘Be Who We Are’ in Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 2:11… to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.
Charles Spurgeon continues to write: In the deserts of affliction, the presence of the Lord becomes everything to us, and we prize His company beyond any value that we set upon it.
